12:26 pm lissar_myst [Link]	phew wow, the last couple of weeks have been CRAZY. Our business just moved to a new space that's 2.5 times larger than the old office, so we've been deeling with that. And math class is intense. There are tons of high school students in the class. They alternately annoy me and amuse me to no end. For example, one of the girls (who I'm convinced has ADHD) actually told the teacher she was bored when he asked why she was staring at the ceiling. lol (1 comment \| Leave a comment)

03:52 pm skzbrust [Link]	Shadow Unit Reruns I’ve been watching the reruns, and among the things I didn’t notice the first time around is the episode where Worth shows up with a cast on her arm, and there’s no explanation for it, and nothing ever happens with it and no one comments on it. For example, a large linked sequence of stories is a campaign or chronicle. Individual sections of a campaign might be called a story. Sections of a story might be a session or chapter. A session is made up of scenes. Scenes are sometimes divided into turns. What are some synonyms for these words I haven’t used here? For people in my life whom I call family and wow really treat me like family - funny how when you ask for something it shows up - trick is being humble enough to receive the gift. 2. Experimenting with food and grilling a flank steak for the first time and it was damn good 3. Having someone in my life who loves my cooking 4. Having people in my life who show me where my own buttons are 5. Having a Daddy in my life who reminds me that perhaps the best action to take is no action (even when i really really wanna!) 12:29 pm skzbrust [Link]	Thank you, Lydia! I’m back from Fourth Street. Near as I can tell, the division of labor is: Lydia and others did the work, I got the glory. I’m good with that. I hesitate to try to single out anyone’s contributions, because there are so many I’m going to miss. But the discussion was consistently at a high level, and I got epiphanized more than once. My housemates, Reesa and Kit, were clearly in their element all weekend, and it did my heart good. Mrissa needs to be especially singled out for saying Lots Of Smart Things. It was wonderful seeing my family, and my “family,” and feeling my brain engaged again. I plan to post more as the results seep into my brain. (Originally posted at Words Words Words by skzb. 01:29 am skzbrust [Link]	After 4th Street — First Thoughts I am in Dallas with Reesa’s mom, Deborah, after flying back this evening. The rest of the Dream Café is headed back by car with TxAnne, driving through the night. I’m exhausted and my brain is churning in ways I can’t even write about yet. The panels were stimulating and we’re all full of ideas and plans for the days to come. I made a bunch of really great contacts there, several who want to help with our ongoing project. I had a wonderful time and I’m already looking forward to next year (and its exciting GoH). We took tons of notes which we’ll be collating and posting in the days to come. I’m also hoping to compile a reading list of the many books which were discussed and recommended during the con. There’ve been some great photos taken that are already beginning to filter onto the net. We’ll link to or repost those too — if you’ve taken some, feel free to leave comments. We’d also love to hear your feedback on the con. Thanks to everyone who made the con so amazing, and all the great Minneapolitans who showed me the best of their fair city. 10:11 pm aramina [Link]	Okay.... So lots of people know I hate ants, they give me the heebie jeebies. (This is probably due to childhood trauma of seeing one of my pet rabbits covered in ants after she died) I'd like to note that the 4th Indiana Jones movie has done nothing to help this hatred of them. So finding out that they had found a way into my room was not exactly something I was hoping to find out. Of course, I don't think they were happy to find undiluted cinnamon oil spread all around where they were trying to come in. So my room smells like cinnamon, and it'll take the ones still in here a couple days to die if I'm unlucky, but hey, I'm feeling better. Current Mood: hot Tags: me (Leave a comment)

11:41 pm irishkitty [Link]	weekend update Had a very good weekend (though incredibly tooo hot!). Had some lovely connection time with Dave Saturday morning, made a big yummy breakfast and then off to be with my shamanic group. I've had to make some choices over the last several years due to school and other priorities and one of them was to not participate so much in the Circle. So It was quite lovely to spend the afternoon catching up with old friends, celebrating the solstice and being in that energy again. Had some interesting insights (several scare the hell out of me) and overall had a delightful afternoon (and oh, the place had A/C!). Saturday evening Dave and I were extended a lovely and generous offer to meet with L and e at the Lair in celebration of our anniversary. We gratefully accepted and had a most wonderful evening socializing, taking in all the sights and sounds and having a lovely scene ourselves. Today has been rather hedonistic - sleep, sex, food, sex, a bit of a nap, and more yummy food thanks to Faerie and Christopher who took me out to dinner for my graduation gift. Made some touch points with other people in my life this weekend - things seem to be calmer. So good weekend happy grin Tomorrow I job hunt again - please send lots of good mojo and light towards that please. We need something to open up. (4 comments \| Leave a comment)

02:50 am skzbrust [Link]	4th Street’s First Day It seems like the revival of Fourth Street Fantasy is a success, if one judges by the first day alone. The two panels today — From Cool Idea to Story and Grinding Buttons and Pushing Axes were entertaining and stimulating. The fascinating discussions that began there spilled over into the bar, the restaurant, and the con suite late into the night. Reesa and I were the last ones up, discussing our experiences with the day until she had to pass out. There has been music, food, a lot of laughter, and I think a very large helping of inspiration. Among all the other fascinating panels scheduled for tomorrow, Reesa, Jennifer and I will be holding forth on Advice From New Writers with Marissa Lingen, Michael Merriam, and Jon Singer, moderated by Teresa Nielsen Hayden. I’ll also be sitting on Food, Fashion, and Fornication (and I’ll be wearing a Fuzzy Hat). Steve will be talking about the Chewy Bits and moderating the highly anticipated 21st Century Storytelling panel, featuring the whole Shadow Unit team plus writer/game designer Alec Austin. … which means I better get some sleep if I want to stay awake tomorrow! Steve is already getting ready while Reesa & I are eating some food in the hotel’s cafe prior to opening ceremonies.
